8/27/15: Nurse Charged with Smuggling Drugs into Jail
25-year-old nurse Robin Yanda is facing charges for smuggling marijuana to an inmate at the Lee County Jail and having sexual relations with said inmate. Yanda began a relationship with 24-year-old Robert Loveland, an inmate at Lee County Jail, while she was working there in the infirmary.
A licensed practical nurse, Yanda was working for Armor Health Services at the time. Armor Health Services has since stated that she no longer works for the company. State health regulators have also suspended her license.
The Lee sheriff’s office says that there are almost 300 recorded conversations between the nurse and the inmate proving that she had been sneaking him cigarettes, marijuana, and dipping tobacco. Police have not reported any details from the conversation or otherwise that prove the two had a physically sexual relationship.
Documents show that Loveland eventually began threatening Yanda that he would contact her employer and get her fired unless she provided Xanax pills and a quarter pound of marijuana. Authorities say Robin Yanda admitted to smuggling contraband into the facility.
