9/28/15: Cop Charged with Alleged DUI After Hitting Grocery Cart
41-year-old Ryan Robinson was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after his GMC truck was involved in a traffic crash and then hit a shopping cart. Robinson has been a Miami-Dade Police officer since 2003. At the time of the incident, Robinson reportedly had bloodshot eyes, was unsteady on his feet, and smelled of alcohol.
At the time of the grocery cart incident, Robinson was off duty. Authorities say he hit the cart, which had children inside, and then he tried to flee. The cart was knocked over and the children fell on the road. There were no serious injuries, as the children sustained only minor cuts and bruises. According to Manny Garcia, the father of the children in the cart, the 1997 white GMC truck hit his car despite his attempts to tell the driver to back up. Officer Ryan Robinson is charged with DUI and has been suspended without pay.
