06/27/14: Multiple Felony Charges for Florida Man Arrested with 36 Grams of Cocaine
Jeremy Cray, 26, was arrested for trafficking in cocaine after police searched his apartment and found 26.7 grams of powder cocaine and 9.3 grams of crack cocaine. Mr. Cray, who is a convicted felon and was on probation at the time of the arrest, was also found in possession of a firearm so he was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation. No information has presently been released regarding the affidavit the police submitted in order to be granted the search warrant to search Mr. Cray’s apartment. If the affidavit was insufficient Mr. Cray may be able to get the case thrown out through the successful arguing of a motion to suppress. However, if the search was conducted by a probation officer rather than a police officer, Mr. Cray may not have a viable motion to suppress as a probationer’s privacy rights in regards to their probation officer are severely limited.
